Classical Concepts welcomes requests for lecture demonstrations

We are especially interested in developing the next generation of listeners. We welcome requests for lecture-demos by music departments of middle schools, high schools, and colleges.

The demonstrations would cover explanation of the instruments, rhythms and compositional principles of Indian classical music and fundamentals of Indian rhythms including taals (rhythmic cycles) and bols (rhythmic words). Techniques used in the Alaap will also be explained and how different phrases in the octave are formulated and rendered will also be covered. Live demonstration of the ragas and will take the audience through the improvisations in three tempos: Vilambit (slow), Madhya laya (medium) and Dhrut (fast).
